Slipping

When the mask breaks, the past bleeds through.

Slipping is a psychological thriller / neo-noir / crime drama screenplay by Jeffrey Connell.

After a violent act of street justice destroys his career, Detective Ron Santo is quietly exiled to Fairfield — a picture-perfect upstate town where nothing ever happens. Days later, a local man is found butchered behind a bar, the word MOM smeared beside the body.

Enter Eve Swanson: brilliant FBI profiler, daughter of Fairfield’s revered late sheriff, and a woman whose calm, clinical exterior hides a catastrophic fracture. As the investigation circles a redacted 2005 case and an escaped asylum patient, reality begins to distort — ringing, drained color, childlike voices, and old sins demanding blood.

The case becomes a descent into inherited trauma, buried violence, and the terrifying moment when the mask of sanity slips completely.
